Rx8 minor upgrades thoughts and ideas..

Looking to upgrade a stock 04 MT RX8(110,xxx miles) with:

-RB REVi intake
-RB Cat-back
-RB header
-RB ULTRA ignition wires
-RB PCN FLASH REN.V1
-Stock Cat or HighFlow Cat

Now what I'm looking for is a lil more power and effect and efficient RX8 with MPGs. And I know RX8s burn a lot of gas and its meant to be driven hard and enjoyed yes I do understand all of that, but reminder I also use it for a daily driver to commute to work using cruise control and when its not on the weekend I wouldn't mind having a decent MPG during the week.
Qeestions: will these upgrade do justice to rx8 and help run better and more power with a slight chance of gain MPG? And with these upgrade will I be able to pass smog in California?

Not really. I like RB and all, but you *might* see a 1mpg difference for all of that effort and expense. This simply isn't that kind of car. You would be ahead by far if you take the money you budgeted for these upgrades and re-budget it for gas.

Fuel economy of the 8 is what it is, the only thing you can do to try and conserve fuel is keep your foot out of the throttle, and even then it's still thirsty by today's standards. The engine came from the factory pretty topped off on power. No bolt-ons that will add horse power in a significant way. Keeping the ignition system healthy is one of the single most important things you can do with this car to keep it running at it's peak. If you were looking for fuel economy, you most certainly purchased the wrong car.

i would go with BHR ignition before RB everytime. Get the RB block off plate, put a mid pipe (little HP bump) on remove the Air pump. Intake is a waste of money. The stock is awesome, just remove the inner baffles on the bottome of the box. Otherwise go with the AEM intake. It's the only intake that comes close to matching stock. Basically your going for looks, your not going to see the improvements you want with this car. it's not a neon, it's an RX8. Just run it to redline daily and enjoy the car. no one here purchased it because of it's great fuel economy. that is all simply IMO

Exhaust and intake will most probably have negative impact to mpg...

Says who? If you can keep your foot out of it and not want to listen to it. Why wouldn't it help?

Lol RXeligion i Like that re-budget it for fuel hahah.

Dont Rush on Header, wait till BHR's Header is out then compare the two.
Meanwhile get BHR Ignition
Instead of Hi-Flow Cat get BHR Midpipe that will unleash 10-12 hp frm cat
Other than that AP would be a better investment with MAzda Maniac's tune or someother tuner's..
