RX8 clutch bleeding problem

I had to create a new account as my old one did not let me post for some reason even though I had not used it for a few years I always did make legit post so no clue.

I am running into a problem bleeding my clutch and hope someone can help me out. I just changed my clutch in my 04 rx8 as the throwout bearing went out on me. I put everything back together and ran into an issue bleeding the clutch. I had a buddy pump the clutch several time and hold it to the floor. I then open the valve and fluid rushes out but only for like 1-2 seconds or so. Then no more fluid comes out of the valve even though he is holding the clutch down. The cap is off and the reservoir is full. Each time I make this attempt it sticks to the floor. After 5 pumps it comes up on its own but when I open the valve to bleed it fluid just comes out for a second or two then stops flowing and the clutch is back to the floor.

Am I missing something here? Any help is greatly appreciated as I am at a loss here.

RX8 clutch bleeding problem

when you bleed it....push ...open valve
...push to floor. close valve ...repeat a few times and the air will be gone. the fluid will stop coming. out when the pedal is on the floor...cause there is no pressure to push it out. that is normal

Thank you kindly for the fast responses. I have bleed clutches before and normally after 2-3 cycles is gets much better and flows smooth. I have done it at least 20 times with no improvement from the first one to the 20th. Could this be normal? I just cant see it taking this many cycles to not make any difference. I will give it more cycles today but just feel like something is wrong at this point and was wondering if anyone has ran into this issue.

Thank you in advance and have a great day.

Did you replace the slave cylinder as part of the clutch replacement? Any leaks down there?

Bleeding the clutch on the RX-8 can just be a bitch sometimes. I have done it a ton and every now and then you just get one that is a PIA so you just have to follow the factory procedure and be patient.

To make it a little easier on my own RX-8 and couple of other locals, I installed a speed bleeder on the clutch slave.

There must be another problem. I bought a vacuum bleeder and after many attempts I still keep getting air mixed with fluid. I went through a hole bottle of fluid and it keeps doing the same. I don't see any leaks on the line but I am probably just going to replace the master and slave. When I use the vacuum bleeder the clutch does not stick to the floor but once I use the clutch to try and bleed it stick again. Does this sound like a slave issue?
