Other than the rotary engine, an RX-8 works just like any other RWD car.
A clutch on an RX-8 isn't any different than any other car.
If you put the car in second gear, dump your clutch and your car doesn't stall, then most likely your clutch is dead, and again, it's the same as replacing the clutch on any other RWD car.

When I shattered a clutch disc the pedal went right to the floor. How does the pedal feel?

Clutch, or master slave cylinder?
So I was driving from the hardware store yesterday with parts for my other car, suddenly I was trying to shift into second gear when it made a grinding noise. Then I made another attempt and nothing, so I tried getting it into any other gears, but still nothing.. The car idles fine, just can't get into any gears. When I press the clutch pedal it feels really loose for the first quarter of the push, then it feels kind of spongy/stiff for the rest of the push. I looked under the dash and under the clutch pedal and noticed moisture on clutch Master cylinder, so I wiped my finger on it, and sure enough it was oil. Could the master cylinder be the cause of my problem? Sorry for posting in wrong section, but this is the only place this site will let me post

My clutch pedal just broke on me and my clutch still worked fine it just felt weird and grinded at high rpm. I feel like you might want to look into the master cylinder but when i replaced my clutch peddle there was some fluid coming around the little push rod that goes's into the fire wall for the clutch it wasn't a lot but you could tell that it was leaking at least a little. But I feel like you're problem will be with clutch not the master cylinder.
