RX8 2011 Type RS - Check Engine Light and Power Steering light.
Hello everyone,
I have been encountering a problem with my Rx8. I own a 2011 Type RS Rx8. I bought the car in February 2012. A few months later the check engine light and the power steering light came on. I tried my best to fix it. I went to many people and I got it fixed like 2 months ago. The person who fixed it said that my ECU has been tampered and that they repaired it. However, last week both the check engine and the power steering light came on again. I am really worried about it. Even though the lights are on, I have no problem in driving the car.
Can someone please tell me what I should do and if anyone knows why the lights turned on then please let me know? Will really appreciate it if you could help me.

What is the code behind the check engine light? There are lots of codes it could be, and without the number of the code, or codes, we can't really help. It could mean anything from your gas cap is loose to you have a hole in the exhaust to your ECU has failed.

'My Check Engine Light is on, what is wrong type' questions. Any question related to a CEL is worthless unless you list your car type and the PXXXX CEL code. Without both pieces of information you won't get a straight answer. Listing your modifications and the time line between your last mod(s) and the new CEL helps too. We also have a list of all CEL codes here: https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-tech-garage-22/rx-8-technical-info-cel-codes-pcm-pin-list-collision-guide-26291/ If you do a Google search on the site for your CEL code, you will find prior posts and threads of people that have had it, and what they did to resolve it.
PS: You don't have a "Type RS". Your IP says you are in the US, so you either have an R3, a Grand Touring, or a Sport. No other trim classifications were used for 2011
