Hi everyone sorry to take your time here but I am a newbie to the Rotary Crew. I've done my fair share of research and i'm really just wanting some clarification.

I am a relatively broke guy and I am looking to do most my own work for the cred and for the fact that it will save me a nice chunk o' change.

As I said I dont have a ton of money but I wanna slowly build something cool and increase my knowledge in general. So starting out with a 13B-REW is kinda out of the question. I can work with earlier models of the RX7 and the initial price point of the RX8 is there as well.

Personally I just want to clarify (knowledgeable facts not fanboy misconception), is the RX8 even worth my time? I have seen many posts suggesting the RX8 is garbage to mod and I have seen many saying the RX8 is a better platform.

I understand the RX8 can be more costly to modify and may have some limitations to HP gains vs normal piston engines but the savings in insurance (4 door 4 seats) and the fact it starts with a higher stock HP then most of the RX7 series really appeals to my taste.

Also as far as I have seen the 2009+ models of the RX8 have higher HP and fixed many issues the previous versions had. Does this new version have better modding potential vs the older versions from a price point perspective at least? Is it worth my time to spend 3-5k more for the newer model or buy a cheaper old model and put 3-5k of parts into it?

As I have said before I have seen too many fanboy posts for both the RX7 and the RX8 to really know what ill be getting into. Thank you for anyone's time! And Yes! I have read the RX8 noob forums!! Thank you for the great Detailed list of mods and parts from the RX8 moderators!!
