I am new to the sit and a new RX-8 owner. I am a previous RX-7 owner too.


I just bought an 04 RX-8 with 6 MT. It has Greddy Exhaust Cat back exhaust only. Right now I am getting a code that says the O2 sensor is out, The cat is bad and the Throttle sensor is bad. My concern is I have white smoke coming out that smells rich like gas.


Any ideas or help?

 

We could likely use a little more data.. If you are getting a gas smell, it is likely the CAT was gutted. Is the O2 sensor the rear one?

If the CAT is gutted, it will show up as bad. It will also give you a rich gas smell and some whitish smoke when cold. No idea on the throttle sensor.

I suggest checking which O2 sensor, and making a quick inspection of the CAT (elevate safely, undo the front bolts, look inside. If you see a nice clean honey comb, should be good. If you see a plugged mess, not so good. If you see the rear of the cat, it has been gutted.

Hi all! My question is kind of off the topic but I get a smell of fuel once in a while in my car. Like when the heat/ac is on, once in a while it starts smelling like fuel and then it stops. It's not bad but I can smell it. Is there anything that I should check out/take care off or is it just normal? Just curious
