my check engine light turn on and then it turn on for about a week then turned back on
my car also heats up and i can feel it where the cup holders are at and it feels like its having a hard time catching speed sometimes

i need help to see if anyone knows what might be wrong with my rx-8
i just got it as my first car

 

Sounds like it could be a clogged cat. Does the check engine light flash at you?

 

it doesnt flash it just stays on but it does sound like the car is forcing its self to gain speed and once it starts gaining speed it takes of really fast

 

I would go to a pepboys or an autozone and get that code read, then post the code here to try and find out what it could be

 

hmmm well yeah ill have to do that and hopefully i find out what it is if not ill have to take it to the dealership for service

 

It could be something pretty simple. A misfire is always a flashing CEL, but hopefully its not a clogged cat either, that could be very pricey to fix. What state are you in? Do you have emissions?

 

Get the code, all guesses are pointless.
