Rotor Housing Help

Hi guys,

I am new to the rotary engine but have extensive knowledge of straight 6 and 4 cylinder motors.

I am busy rebuilding my RX8 motor, and also looking to go the turbo route.

I have managed to strip half the motor this far and already have concerns. The motor did run hot because of a leaking radiator. Although it did not overheat. From what I have heard is that when the 13b's run hot the water seals tend to go and you loose compression, how true that is I dont know.

Here is a picture of the housing and the part of it that has me concerned. Overall the housing looks good no scratches at all just this little part at the bottom. Almost looks like a chip out of the aluminium about 10mm long and 2mm wide

Will this housing still be usable is what I really want to know.

Thank you

Stephan from sunny South Africa

It's junk, just throw it away

It's flaking and pieces of it its gone. if you re-assemble it like this, the compression is gonna be like ****. it will run, just not good

@nycgps

Thanks,

Is it possible to use FD3 housings with the SE3P rotors? Rotors are in great shape, and apex seals are still intact
