Ive just recently got my first rx8(S2 2008 model) but its a manual. before anyone starts hating me its my first car and my license only allows me to drive automatics for now (will move to manual later down the line) I have a friend that owns a manual and everytime he lets me ride his one as a passenger, the sounds when he's downshifting just amazes me, the vroom Vrooommm VROOOM thing (haha). now I tried doing the same on my one while using the manual shift mode. when I'm on 5th gear I would just do a quick tap. ,make the engine rev then shift down. I cant seem to do this downshifting from 3rd gear and below without making the car jerk, wanting to move forward faster. just wondering if pressing the brake and throttle at same time to downshift do anything to my car and if rev matching by doing what I mentioned will break the car? and if its fine to do what I do anyway is there any way to make it better? thank you all!

 

You can't do that with an auto. Definitely don't gas and brake at the same time.
