Radiator replacement

So my mechanic told me I had a crack in my radiator and my rad and my thermostat needs to be replaced. And I will be doing this job this week and I was wondering if you guys had any input, tips, or suggestions as far as anything else that could have gone bad because of this. I have already ready the forms on how to do both jobs. And I will have access to AllData so hopefully that helps. But I would love to get all of your input before I start this job.
PS. I plan on only replacing the radiator, and the Thermostat (+gasket) no hoses or anything like that.

I would seriously consider replacing the coolant bottle and cap at the same time at a minimum, possibly the harder to reach hoses as well. Replacing the coolant bottle has a pretty good chance of destroying the radiator, so if your existing one is old and you can get a new one in there with the new radiator, it will be something you won't have to worry about for years. $130 from Mazmart.

When removing the Rad. Does the fan assembly come off with it?

It is connected by a couple of bolts i think, but you can remove the radiator with it in the car.
