Posting here because n00b, story then head light issue

i was told to ask for flames...

anyway, last rx i had was an 89 vert (about 10 years ago), last sunday i picked an 05 6spd for dirt, $1500.

Story told to me was this: bought it from carmax in 06 with 7k miles, same "shop" maintained it, in late 2013/ early 2014 the temp went up. they said they pulled over and had it towed to their shop, shop said fans not kicking on, ecu is bad, $1000 to fix, they paid him, came back in 3 days to pick it up and the shop was empty and the rx8 behind a locked fence, took police 4 months to get the proper paperwork to cut the lock and get the car. They had it towed home where it sat in their driveway, untouched, until I bought it 2/14/2015.

The "shop" removed all the engine covers, pulled the negative cable and that looks like about it.

Battery had a small charge so i hooked it up to a charger and let it go, noticed the gas gauge was empty *thank baby raptor jesus* and the fuel pump was kicking on, so added 5 gallons of 93 and proceeded to try and start her up......

An hour later, it finally ran......kinda

Over 9000 cel codes...well 16

Bought new plugs, coils, vac elbows for the snorkel and vac lines, IMHO if wires don't arc and aren't broken why replace them?

She fires right the **** up and sounds perfect, I after idling for 45 min, no over heating, then proceed on plate-less joy ride. If i'm going to test it, I might as well drive it like i stole it. 7 miles and up to 83 mph redlining every shift, she seems spot on, even the flat spots in the tires went away.

However, when I turn on the headlights, nothing happens. Tails come one, signals work, but no lows or highs, I checked the fuses under the hood, didn't see any notes on relays, and wanted your opinion before I go buy bulbs.....i figure one of the 4 should come on.

Btw currently reading 161k miles and pics below, outside is the day it showed up, engine pic is about 20 min ago

Watch out for signs of a coolant seal failure. If the needle moves at all, it's already 15 degrees past the point damage can start occuring at.

Because the internal conductivity does break down and fade over time. High resistance on the plug wires will accelerate coil burn out and plug fouling, both of which will also accelerate the other (fouled plugs accelerate coil burn out and weakening coils accelerate plug fouling)

Check the kick panel by the driver's left foot first. I bet it's a relay or fuse busted. You are correct, you should have something of them should come on if it's dead bulbs.

Welcome, that's a pretty sweet deal for $1500.l
Yeah, I agree with taking it easy on it until you get a good idea of what you have.
You might want to drop your cat and inspect it if you still have one.
Good luck!

I noticed the coolant level was low in the tank, i used my MATCO SMART750K on it and it didn't leak down, so i'm not sure what happened, it never got above a little below half on the gauge

I didn't check resistance on the wires, I had planned on replacing them, NGKs are $35, but all my local stores have to order them

I checked, but I didn't see anything that suggested it effected the headlights on the diagram in there, under the hood only showed a few fuses, nothing on the relays :/
