Possible engine swaps

So I want to build my rx8. My current renesis engine won't start, assuming it's the compression but not 100% sure. I want to swap into either a 13b rew FD and either single or twin turbo it. But I'm also looking into piston engines like an RB, LS, possibly a 2jz, or an Evo x swap. With your guys knowledge which piston engine would be the best to swap into an rx8 without doing a lot of re fabrication?

Personally, i want to get a 13b rew and keep it a rotary but like a lot of people advised me to do but I'm also open to swaping to piston engine. What are your thoughts and suggestions on what I should swap in it?

We have both rotary swap and non rotary swap threads here. Personally i would suggest you read a lot before you dive into such a project. Figure out a budget, then decide.

Personally i would suggest just going to the REW if youre dead set on a swap. Thats me though.

I've been trying to find some threads but none pop up, I'll keep searching. I want an rew and can get the one I want built, but I also want an engine that can some what garuntee a long life. The REW are way better then Renny and have a longer life expectancy but I was also looking at Evo x swaps. I think that would be cool but I really want to keep the rotary. But thanks man I'll definitely do A LOT of research before I jump into anything lol.

try this in a search engine:
engine swap site:rx8club.com
it will search for the terms engine and swap exclusively in rx8club, you could address specific swap by using
13-rew swap site:rx8club.com
You might also try different search engines with the same search, you will find slightly different results

With any stock rotary you will be looking at rebuilding around 80k miles. Ren or Rew. Putting additional power into it will decrease this further.
  • A stock ren rebuild could cost anywhere from 1.5k to 5k depending on how damaged your engine is. This is the best route for stockish power ~180hp
  • A turbo ren build is going to cost the above plus 6-10k in additional custom parts and machining. Which has a ceiling around 350hp.
  • A turbo REW build is going to be around 12-16k for the engine plus an additional 10k in turbo/misc parts. Which has a pump gas ceiling around 450hp where you should swap to E85.
