hi... ive never posted on here so I hope im on the right section sorry if im not.... ive had my 04 rx8 since new and have lived through the flooding, the new coils, plugs, leads etc but this one has me stummped and also my mechanic friend who has worked on rx8's for years.... again ive just done a coil, plug, lead change and de-flooded... My baby will start never 1st but always 2nd or 3rd time but only once a day... I cant go out in her at all or else she wont restart even after a few hours so i know its not due to the warm start issue... ive just cleaned the MAF sensor which has improved the problem a little now I can start her every 90 mins or so... i could understand it if when she fires up she runs like crap but she is firing and running like brand new which it what has everyone so puzzled... if anyone could please shed some light on anything else i can try that wont cost me an arm and a leg I would really appreciate it...

don't assume it is not hot start related. it certainly sounds like it to me. your first sentence kinda contradicts the rest of your situation.

I see a compression test in your future.

 

its only been today since cleaning the MAF sensor last night that i got it to start after like 90 mins each time... before that with it being sat outside i would go out every morning and start her then id try again shortly after that (roughly the time id take in the shops) and nothing id try again after work and again in the eve and still nothing until roughly 24hours each time... when she wasnt starting up she would act like she was flooded.... do you think the checking the o2 sensors is worth a try??

 

maybe drop your mid pipe and make sure you catalytic converter is good. O2 doesn't really matter much regarding initial cranking and you'd likely have a CEL.
