Hi guys, I'm new here so please be gentle I have had my rx8 for nearly 3 years and unfortunately my 6cd player has stopped playing CDs.... Not the end of the world so I bought a grom oem ipd3 that plugs straight into the back of the HU easy......

But it won't work....it won't even recognise the external device I'm completely stuck any help or suggestions would be hugely appreciated!

My rx8 is a 2005 model and the stereo firmware is 9.67.......

is it the correct version of the grom? if i remember right when I was picking mine out they had different versions for which version of the stock head unit you had, also try unplugging and replugging the unit to make sure its properly clipped in. did you try hitting cd twice to display EX ? If its not any of the connectors then you could have a faulty unit

 

Thanks for replying, I have checked that this is the one suitable for my software, and I checked and rechecked the wiring...I know that there is power to it as it charges my iPhone, when I hit the cd button it doesn't give me the option of getting ex1 or 2 it just stays on cd no matter how many times I press cd button......it's driving me mad!!!

 

Could this not be working due to the CD player not working......it selects cd then makes a noise like loaded or booting up the CD player but then nothing happens and eventually the screen just goes blank......

 

Could be, does the radio work? Or is it just the CD changer thats busted?

 

Did you disconect the 6disc drive completly?
I have the single disk no nav no sat radio no mini disk and if I recall mine went into the mini disk port. If I remeber right for the 6 disc you need to replace that plug with the groms plug it was a couple of years ago when I did mine

 

Yeah the radio is fine! Thank god!!!!

And no didn't need to disconnect anything as it was a straight plug into the spare port at the back next to the aerial socket.

Is the mini disk socket underneath the head unit???

Mine grom unit has the grom lead that fits directly into the head unit I'm really baffled by this and I don't like to be beaten!

I'm trying to do this on my 04 RX8 with has 9.67 Firmware installed on it.

Did you figure out how to enter the EX mode?

I'm not able to do it by double pressing the CD button.
