Okay, i have an 2004 RX-8. I recently replaced the starter and the starter relay because it wouldn't start. The starter is making a terrible whining noise when i try to turn it over. What am i missing? I'm totally stuck and need help.

It sounds, by the way your describing it, that your starter is spinning.
Check the gears on the starter and on the flywheel/flexplate. See if there is any grinding marks on the starter. On the flywheel/flexplate, see if there are any teeth missing.
