Yes, it's called a block test to check for exhaust leaks into the cooling system. If you can determine that the coolant seals haven't failed I would look to your radiator and fan shroud.

Yea I already block tested it at operating temp. The blue liquid in the tester turned green. Its supposed to turn yellow if there is exhaust. But i guess it turning green means there is a tiny bit of exhaust gas.

You likely have a small coolant seal failure. If you are not planning to rebuild the engine, I would recommend trying the Blue Devil or Bar's Leaks. Also, look at replacing the radiator and fan shroud after the treatment. Definitely block off the heater core even though I think someone tried this before. I would honestly just recommend selling it and buying a better example.

Yea ill try using the radiator repair and if it fixes ill probably be able to sell it for a bit more.

Definitely try this radiator repair and block off the heater core. I've heard engines have been saved this way and you could likely sell it for more money if it's not overheating. To be honest, this is exactly what I would do in your situation haha. How much you can get for the car will depend on how well this works. Follow the directions WORD FOR WORD!!

I would do a coolant pressure test next. If it holds pressure, it should be good. After that I would check for air in the system. A good bleed can work wonders.

Ok so i just redid my coolant. Drained it and rebled it. I have been idling for about 30 mins now and it bounces around 98c-102c. I do hear the fans go from low to high when it reaches 100ish. It is 86f out right now. Haven't drove it yet but i think i fixed my over heating. But my seals maybe damaged slightly so im still gonna get a block sealer if my next cold start is bad

Well, if it wasn't before, after a cruise at 124c, it's probably dead now.

You still don't really know the condition of the engine. Its been overheated a few times and likely needs a rebuild. However you have not confirmed the cause yet. If the coolant system holds pressure and the rotors still make decent compression, then all maybe is not lost. Even if the engine needs a rebuild you are better off knowing the cause to make sure it is addressed in the future.

Or you can sell it as is and walk away. Just be upfront with the buyer so they know what they are getting into.

At the very least a coolant seal failure. Why did you keep driving it?

How is the rest of the car? If its in fantastic shape maybe $2,000? If its got ripped seats, bad brakes/suspension and bad paint, you won't get much for it.

Might be a good project for someone. Should be able to get anywhere between $1,500-$2,500. Maybe start at $3,000 asking price and let someone beat you down to $2,500.
