One bad cat

So my engine light is on and it is the code for a bad catalytic converter. I just ordered the Walker New york direct fit from autozone. I just got this car and I need to pass emissions so i can atleast start driving it. has any one had problems passing with a after market cat? I know that these cars eat cats but it has a 5 year warranty so I'm not to worried about it.

If you read the fine print, the warranty is only good for defects in workmanship.

What you need to investigate regardless is why the cat is bad. Usually old or failing ignition coils/spark plugs/wires cause too much unburnt fuel to enter the cat, which kills it. Continuing to drive on the same ignition guarantees that your new cat will die and could damage the engine as well.

How old are the coils?
