no start compression test

no start compression test

Hello all. i have checked everything and still get a crank but no start. I have a compression tester but i cant use it until car warms up,. any suggestions. im changing the starter to a faster one today. but im stumped if it wont start because of bad compression ill never know as i cant use the rotary tester. 2005 rx8 91k miles a/t

you can do a compression test when the engine is cold, the numbers will just be a bit higher than when the engine is hot and things expand a bit. test it and return with the results and we can go from there.

You should be able to use a traditional compression tester to see if you have really bad compression (blown engine) without starting.
If you have an old battery or unknown age, a new one might help.

The batteries have to be at 100% to start a Renny with any issues at all.

I've had the parts store tell me my battery was good, but having plenty of experience and insisting on a new battery, it's fixed my issue at least 3 times.

I'm not saying it's the problem, but if you think it could be, it might be worth it.

Thanks guys..I am actually going to get a new battery tonight and making sure cables are clean and tight. Ricky good to know i bought a digital compression tester DCT 500 V3 last year and never got to use it. Now i am going to try it on my car tonight..i will come back with the readings....THANKS GUYS

have you used one of those rotary testers,, sucks it works and it only works if its nnot plugged into the device. damn i must have a faulty one
