Bad battery would be the first thing I would check. Make sure the car is getting strong power. How fast do you think it’s cranking?

I can hear the engine slowing down. It has an upgraded starter and a bigger gauge wire. The needle doesn’t move . It hasn’t since I got it. The wires have been cut and new connectors crimped. I’ve done it again myself. The only other thing I can try is wire the Shaft sensor right to the ecu.

Have you tested the battery? You could also try jumping it off another car. You want it cranking really good to start it. May also be flooded if its cranking and not starting.

I’m not at that point yet, I’m still hooking things up, but I have enough hooked up to turn it over, and I get no RPM just like before I took it apart ..

The battery is good, it’s from my running car.

The battery for the RX8 needs to be 660 CCA. It's possible the battery from the other car isnt strong enough.

The dash is CANBUS driven so you need enough of the harness together for CANBUS to actually work. Do other dash functions work properly? Do you get an rpm signal on the OBD port?

the other dash functions are working. My cheap scanner doesn’t show.. only. Dtc and it’s a cheap $20 one at that. So I will try hooking up the upper intake manifold. Maybe it needs to see the DBW throttle body

Its wholly possible that it not being connected could be the issue. Why do you need to know the RPM with the manifold off?

I don’t necessarily.. but it’s an ongoing problem since I got the car and was looking to fix it

The OMP? What were the problems the car gave you to take it apart?
