'New' RX8 owner slightly concerned

Hi guys,

I've just (6 months ago) brought a 55 plate 231 6 speed. With only 17,000 miles on the clock.

It was compressiom tested before I brought it. The results were front 79 psi, rear 99 psi. Unfortunately around the time I brought it I did have internet access to find out that 79 is quite low.

I drive it a lot, it has 26,000 on the clock now. It has never refused to start or stalled. It feels good to drive thiugh it is the first RX8 I have driven so I didn't know what to expect. My biggest concern is how long the good running will last? Is it possible that such a low mileage, well maintained engine will fail so soon?

There is no "end date" for your engine. Some people drive around with low compression and don't even feel the symptoms, while others notice right away.

My advice is to start saving for the rebuild that you WILL need. And as a caution- using engine cleaning components (ie sea foam , etc) could potentially make the issue worse.

Read the sticky thread "new and potential owners" to get a better understanding of the car.
