New Rx8 owner and already the panic has set in
So I've bought a 54 plate silver Rx8 231. It had 85000m on the clock and I paid £1k for it. I have done my research prior to buying it and all the problems with hot starting and so on. The bloke I bought off had 4 rx8's and sounded like he knew a lot about them. He's upgraded the starter motor and done some other things. It has full service history and all the orginal owners manual and the car is in really good shape cosmeticly. I drove it back to my house about 6 miles away and it drove brilliantly and I was quite suprissed and thrilled with the pull. However I got back and turned it off and left it for about 15 mins. I then went to go bk out in it and it took 3 attempts to start it. I had the clutch down and did all the correct procedures but it kept turning so I tried again straight after and on the the 3rd attempt it started and drove fine. But now I'm worried there is something seriously wrong with it. Anyone had this problem?

Your description really isn't all that clear.
If there is just this occurance, then test it deliberately. Start it up and let it idle hot, wait for the radiator fans to cycle on and off, then turn off the engine. Wait a minute, then try to start. If it won't start, or is really hard to start, get a compression test (that you should probably have gotten before purchase).
Don't try to do anything special with the starting though. Just hold the clutch down to the floor and turn the key. Nothing else.

I know lol. I meant trying to start it back up again. It doesn't help when you tell people you've bought an rx8 and all they do is call you crazy (even tough they've never owned one). So doubt starts straight away

It's ok, we will tell you that you are crazy too. Very few of us think that owning an RX-8 is a sane thing to do.
I'm buying my 2nd, if that gives you an idea of my sanity level.
You just have to understand the problems, and then accept them. You have to be a bit crazy to do that.

I love the fact it's completely different. Hopefully I will enjoy it more than spending time fixing it lol.
I'm sure tomorrow it will run fine just got to get used to how it works and know how it runs
