You may want to post everything together to reduce cluttering.

Anyway, no, I would say a stock RX-8 doesn't consume enough oil to spit blue smoke out of the tailpipe, with or without a cat.

Just give the airbox some firm tugs towards the back of the car and it should come right out.

Have you checked the oil level? If it's overfilled, drain the excessive oil.

Clean up all the mess, drive it(assuming it doesn't have other issues), and check your intake again and see if the oil returns.

That's overfilled by maybe half a quart?

You could do another oil change if you'd like. Remember to take it slow when you pour in.

well I think my RX ate my money,,did all of the above its still smoking just not as bad because of the new oil ,the coolant was down almost 2 jugs which explains the oil thinness and overfill .\only thing is the compression seems to be strong .its not licenced so cant take for spin ,and needing a cat to pass emissions cant licience it.So not sure where to go looks like it needs the rebuild from all the info about this car I have had to read .Only way is I would do it my self and not sure the price .So Zoom Zoom or Boom Boom. One other thing after it ran for awhile it wouldnt start after it was turned off.Maybe take for a drive for fun of it with a jug of oil of course if it starts that is

hot start issues is a bad sign for bad compression. could also be a weak starter or ignition but usually compression

If your car is cooled down, does it start more easily?

I would say so ,the 2 times I started it it was cold so yes I would say it doesn’t start at all when hot ,so if it starts would it be wise to drive it,I’ve never driven an RX8 so curious to what it’s like and if I would be interested in restoring it

hot start issues are usually low compression. that means a rebuild or reman. either way the motor is coming out. get a rotary comp test

remanfactured engine from mazda. if its blown up or low on compression sure you can drive it. if you are gonna get it rebuilt its better not to drive because you may damage usable parts but if buying a reman it doesnt matter

just told 200mph that I took car for a spin about 1/2 km or so and it was my first time to drive an RX8 and I liked how it drove It felt lite and nimble and smooth and even though the cat is not hooked up properly it was a little loud but it had a nice sound and if it wasn't leaking the noise would be somewhat quiet I believe .when I started it it smoked heavy for a bit initially but when I drove on the road didn't notice a lot of smoke in rear .the car pulled good for what may be a blown engine but I wouldn't know it was blown or is having low compression but like 200 says it needs a comp test so will look into it and maybe tow it to mazda if there is one here in Windsor, Canada.
