New owner looking to convert to ls engine

First I will introduce myself. I am an active auto enthusiast that has owned many...many cars and love to change stuff.
Just a small insight , I have owned a turbo Miata , supercharged Miata , na Miata, and presently have a 600 hp NSX that I race as much as possible. To this point I have owned around 80 cars and have modified most that I have owned.
I just purchased a 2004 RX-8 that has a bad engine.
I bought it to install an ls engine into it (if this is frowned upon here I have my flamesuit on and can handle it) to make a great car better?
Any advise would be greatly appreciated as I prefer to learn from others mistakes.

Thanks in advance

Thanks

Hope you have an awfully nice MIG/TIG set up and resources of a helluva trust fund. Not quite the same as dropping one into a jeep

From what I find it is just a matter of pull motor ...... install motor......Just kiddin'.
This is a project that I look forward to as I think this will make a great car better.
Make it a great day.

Non-Rotary Swaps - RX8Club.com

Above is the link to the Non rotary swap threads. Enjoy

Just as a personal thought i want to add on here. To make a great car better is completely subjective. Many of our members would argue that you are destroying the handling, for various reasons. Most of these reasons would also be a valid arguement.

I will say this. If your as good as you say you are and you post pics. It'll ALL be fine. If you just post words with no pictures for proof...

Well then no flame suit will help you from the hell our members can bring.

Anyway, enjoy the forum and hope to see some good pictures in your build thread.

If you do complete the swap, just remember to remove the "RX-", because you no longer have the same car we love.
