Thinking about buying a 2004 RX-8 ATX

Hey Guys,

I'm Ed and I owned a 350z a couple years ago, sold it, and now looking to purchase a RX-8. My budget is quite low, so I was looking at a 2004 Automatic:

2004 RX-8 Grand Touring
60k miles on it, automatic
Good compression test
Tasteful mods like custom Y pipe, black rims, etc
Brand new brakes + tires

The guy has it listed for 5,500 but still expressed interest when I said would he take less. Does the price sound reasonable and the pictures look fantastic, no scratches, paint in great shape, garage kept, never driven in the winter.

I'm going to make the 4hr journey to see it, but wanted to know what else to look out for and any feedback, thanks!!!

Did you see the results of the compression test?
Have you read the new and potential owners thread?

5500 seems hight for an 04 auto, but that all depends on a lot.
And if you can't budget for a more reasonable car, chances ae you can't afford the gas and maintenance. Just my opinion.

Please read the new owner stickies.
The '04 auto trans 8s were possibly the most problematic.
They also had less horsepower.
Many complain about the lack of torque, I don't know, but it's probably worse.
If you have to have an auto, then I guess it's irrelevant.
The price is also subjective.
I personally think a MT is just worth more.
Also if you're on a tight budget, be aware it has to have premium gas, and gets maybe 18 mpg.

Big Cajun hit the nail of the head. Do your research first.
