TX New owner. Anyone in DFW?

Just purchased a 2006 RX-8 with less then 70k miles on it. When driving it sounds like there is a grinding from the wheels. I assume is the brakes and will need to be replaced but is there a chance it probably is the wheel bearings as well?

Also I am just south of Denton and have not seen man of these on the road lately.... Anyone in north DFW area on here?

Any Mazda dealer can do the compression test. Its different on rotary engines than it is on piston engines. Cost you about a hundred bucks. The mechanics name I sent you, he can also do the test.

+1 for Texas Customer Service. It's usually a good thing to have done to check to make sure the engine is healthy. It tests the compression on all 3 faces of each rotor and gives you a rough idea of engine health. The higher the compression usually the better the engine, but not always. Other things to get working on is coils and plugs if they haven't already been replaced, but I'm pretty sure Chris has you up to speed. There's a thread stickied that says "Congratulations, you just bought an RX8!" I suggest you give it a read as it is full of excellent knowledge and useful info.

The bracket will depend on what exact coil you choose. Several vendors have created their own ignition kits that give you everything you need. BHR sells a very well regarded kit, and Sake Bomb recently released their own kit also, using a different coil that is also popular in the RX7 world.

As for spark plugs, if youre running natural aspiration (no turbo or super charger) then you should stick with the regular plugs. Paul at MazMart can hook you up with that stuff. Change every 20 or 30 thousand miles, depending on driving style.

I'll vote BHR. I had low idle and wasn't going to pass emissions. Now I've got steady idle and car runs great in all temps.
