CA New owner of 107K rx8

I first want to apologize for how long this is, but please bear with me...Ok, so I bought my RX8 a 6-7 months ago. Love it. However I'm looking to trying to add some mods to it. However there appear to have been mods already from the previous owner. What it looks like is that he used to have a nitrous kit (seeing as there are buttons and switches on the lower left console), perhaps a turbo (guessing because the guy slapped a "turbo" sticker above the RX8 logo on the back), and maybe some other things. Now I took my car to a performance mechanic and he was able to spot out the vehicle had been in a accident, now the car fax doesn't say that so they kept it under the books. Now I haven't experienced any trouble thus far, especially taking account of the miles. But I think it may be a new engine, if it got in a wreck, but so far it's running fine. I've noticed a metal rattling that sounds like it's coming from below my dash? Best way I can describe the rattling is as if two loose washers are rattling due to the vibration, I do however have a gauge console in the middle of my dash, I'm thinking maybe the previous owner forgot some things pulling out the gauges, otherwise I'm fearing the worse... I'm hoping to get any inputs on what I should get as far as a turbo, like everything I need as well as from whom I should get it. I understand there are certain kits I want to stay away from. But I need an honest opinion... Once again I'm sorry this is so long but thank you for taking the time to read this, and I hope to hear from someone soon to further educate me.

Is there any chance you could get your money back? An RX-8 can be difficult enough to keep running without having had been turbocharged and running on nitrous at some point in its past. I wouldn't have high hopes for this car running for another year. I wouldn't have bought it for free. Start by reading all of the stickies.

Best of luck.

Before you get anything motor wise done, get a compression test. That should give you a good starting point.

Thank you for your input, I just wanted to say that although the rattling is causing some concern, it's not constant. It happens on occasion so I'm not sure if that's still something to worry about. However I will get a compression test done and see where I'm at from there. Again thank you.

Bad sign out of business hope your compression test looks good. Next time if it looks or if you even think it's had mods on it but don't now pass it up a better one will come along you never know what your getting into with something like that even with a normal piston driven engine.
