New Member and quick question

Hey all,
Just bought an 06 Shinka and love it.. It helps living in Florida too.. LOL
Problem I have is all I have is the emergency key from the advanced keyless entry fob (Credit card one).
I'm assuming the Switchblade keys are NOT allowed to be programmed/used with that system, but which would be cheaper:
A) Swapping out the advanced keyless module for a regular keyless module or,
B) Getting a new remote ($150 minimum on ebay) and having dealer/locksmith reprogram?

Thanks for any help..

Bryan

I am going this off of S2(2009+) knowledge and I would like someone with an S1 confirm this, but it's a lot easier to do the latter option because the keyless entry(switchblade) and Advanced Key(card) use different electronics.

And let me tell you, Mazda's Advanced Key(or any keyless start system) is awesome and I miss it. Totally worth the money if I was you. I recently picked up an Accord with the regular old keyless entry, and I misplaced the key constantly. Not only that, I accidentally dropped it in the trunk and then closed the trunk lid with the doors locked once and locked myself out of the car. With the Advanced Key, I would never have these problems because it's always securely attached to a key pouch on my jeans.

Since you have the ignition key... I think you just need the remote. The programming can possibly be done by yourself. Try looking up FORScan and see if there is anything for that. Setting up FORScan can be pretty cheap.

As soon as you start messing with security/key systems you run into anti-tamper measures. Replacing the system means a trip to your dealer for antitheft reprogramming, so you may as well just save the effort and get a new keycard programmed to your current system.
