New Member Introduction

Not sure exactly how to start this but let's give this a try;

My name is Edward, 24, Live in Washington state, And am the owner of a 2006 Mazda RX-8 A/T in velocity red mica, I know people will be quick to point out that I should have gotten a manual but I am just happy to own an RX-8 and I must admit with how much fun I have been having with this I am perfectly fine not having a manual, anyway I'm getting on a slight rant.

I joined the forum to meet other fellow rx8 owners and to also get some tips and advice on stuff, speaking of I have some questions I will write below if people could help clear up some stuff, and I did do my research before I asked I am just seeking some clarification.

Goals/plans for the 8 would be intake, full header, cat pipe, cat back exhaust, sohn adapter, coil overs and wheels/tires, didn't want anything crazy as this is both my "show car" and my daily, I'm not after record power gains but more a nice sounding and fun to drive car that is also nice to look at.

Now speaking of the items above, I am a big stickler for uniform parts, I think it's quite weird having parts from 13 different companies when 1 of those companies makes 90% of them, so my question is this, going off of the exhaust forum post are there any current companies making a full header, mid pipe, cat back exhaust system? I know racing beat made one but they stopped selling it, I know Fujita engineering makes a full kit and so does re amemiya but the later 2 are quite expensive for a full kit, are there any other "cheaper" or more adorable full systems out there?

You might simplify the problem by leaving the stock header since there's nothing to be gained by changing it.

Welcome to the group! There is a ton of info in here and sometimes it is just difficult to extract it from the search bar. Suggest trying to use in your spare time as its a bit tricky to get it to spit out what you want at times.

As for exhaust you'll read that headers aren't much of a power adder to our cars, plus add a bit of a more ricey tone to the exhaust (you may like that, I did not). Most are also a decent pain to get mounted and fully sealed due to the nature of the pipes being in the way of the mounting studs.

There aren't too many matching header and full exhaust companies anymore unfortunately. I'd personally recommend keeping the stock header on. If you do want to see how they sound but don't want to spend that much on a brand new one, I have one I had installed off my car I can sell you (I think OBX, or similar). Only on the car for half of a summer before I started my engine swap.

Obviously you've probably figured out if your state allows it, ditch the catalytic converter. I had the TurboXS high flow cat pipe with the TurboXS catback and it sounded great! I also had a buddy with an OBX test pipe (no resonators) and the same catback and it sounded pretty similar, a bit more throaty, but the drone was awful. Spit alot of flames on shifts though.

As for a good catback, I'd toss my hat at TurboXS. Best deeper, good tone sounding exhaust I have heard on an rx8 to date. And some of the better looking exhaust tips of the aftermarket selection. If the older style invidia catback was available with the J-tube built in, that would be my second suggestion.
