I've been a lurker for quite a while. I haven't had a need to create an account until now, because there is a lot of info here for the taking by just using the search function. To be honest, I'll mostly still be a lurker for the same reason. As far as hardware is concerned, (my only reason to spend as much time here as I have) I own a white with all black interior 2005 with 6 speed MT with a bit over 193,500 miles on the clock. I've always loved rotary engine cars and I worked for a local Mazda dealer when the S1 RX-8 was still only a couple years in. Maybe 2006 or 2007? I can't remember. I fell in love with them then. When I bought my car, I was looking for a project car with the simple conditions of manual trans and never wrecked with good paint. I had hoped for white, because I always thought it was the best looking color, and that worked out for me. My goal was to rebuild basically everything a bit at a time while enjoying the car between projects. I plan to eventually go with a turbo setup, possibly using a 13BREW (I'm well aware of the cost and difficulty but I've been a mechanic for more than 30 years...I can figure it out), but nothing set in stone yet. That will be a year or two from now at minimum.

Post pics of your car. That's very high milage, likely that engine is not original to the car. A 13b REW swap is very cool. Like that you are going to put the money in to keep it a rotary rather than go the easy route of an LFX swap.

Will have to post pics tomorrow. I don't have anything that I didn't get from the seller and I don't really want to show his yard and personal belongings, including license plate.
