Well I wanted to officially start posting here on the rx8club community.

Anyways for the last 3 years I have been lurking around basically leeching from the website and have learned a vast majority about not only our engine but so much more. I look forward to being able to help prove my knowledge in engine building and technical specifications to our community. I work with a vast majority of vehicles as my only hobby really ( I'm in the army ). We currently have a 700 hp KA24DET that was built in house and competes in autocross/drift/ and drag events. I've done a lot of port and polish work and hope to begin fabricating and sharing some of my knowledge with you guys! I know moving from the piston world to a rotary one is a challenge but I can't wait to show off some of my creations we have concocted up here.

Welcome to the forum.

Tell everyone a bit about yourself and your car.

On a personal Note, i was also stationed at Hood between 07 and 11 in between deployments. I lived off of E Rancier on Lake RD.

Ah Rancier, she hasn't changed a bit... I promise haha..

About me: I am 22 years old and served 4 years as an infantryman here and enjoyed It quite a bit. I have been mentored by a group of friends (4 are master mechanics) and quite often work with a local tuner shop when they have rotary questions or troubleshooting engine issues.

About my car: HEHE well I won't spill all my guts here but I've completed my own engine rebuild at 55k miles with lightened ceramic coated rotors, Ported as much as humanly possible on the cursed exhaust ports, expanded water jackets further, port all intake passages, polished damn near everything e-shaft housings etc. Port and polish LIM, ceramic apex seals 3mm, SOHN adaptor, RacingBeat REVi w/ duct, BHR ignition, RE-medy water pump and thermostat, OBX header (it was a gift!), AP cat delete + catback, TB bypass mod, oil and rad screens, blacked tail lights, illegal window tint all the way around lol, CF rear spoiler, inside is pretty much unchanged with the exception of subwoofers and amp. I have 72k miles on her right now and plan on attempting a Bridgeport and going with a small turbo set up when I move up to Indiana. But I want to emplace all the supporting electrical, cooling, and fuel management systems before I attempt to drastically change much more.

And she is a 2005 Shinka 6spd Black Cherry Mica. Plastidipped factory rims copper flaked, 25K HID Fogs, and im sure I left some small parts out that don't really matter! but I hope I can help everyone here and I plan on engineering a successful Bridgeport template that people and replicate if they so choose. However I will most likely be working with MM or an outside tuner to make sure she doesn't die easy

Kane IIRC you as well have experience manipulating maps and data for our cars. I have been researching standalone systems but have barely touched into the tuning side besides flashing our PCM or using an Accessport, do you have any suggestions for this area of my planning for a future rebuild/turbo. I really want to try out a type of bridgeporting, however, I have read about many issues and may scrap that all together considering my modifications so far and move into FI territory instead.

Within reason; the Flash tools available are the best option.

Short of 400+ HP - use the stock pcm and flash it.

Okay I am currently using the stock pcm with a reflash, to clear codes, raise idle, OMP settings. It's very mild in its tune and definitely haven't crossed the 400hp threshold yet. I don't think attempting any sort of mild bridge will unlock much more power but im doing it in addition to what I have done at this time for R&D and I love that sound they can produce. Peripheral would be more straightforward but I still want to drive somewhat around town haha! But from the turbo set-ups I looked into there doesn't seem to be a one and all kit around so I will probably have to mash one together piece by piece. But 370-400 horses is around my area I want to be so I probably won't attempt a high boost pressure past 10-12. But I know the internals I have could push a little higher but I'd like to keep some longevity (lol like that's not a joke). But I'll let everyone know when I start my build thread. I just have some more tiny mods I would like to do before I rip apart this perfectly good one again.

One thing I never got a straight answer on around here though. Besides the TB lines, does the samco sport hose kit still fit? or has everyone decided to just use the 3 hose kits and replace the OEM as needed
