AB New member to the forum and to the RX world.

Hello. I am in the process of buying an 40th anniversary. I will be posting picks soon and I take possession of it. It is a bone stock car and for the most part I will be trying to keep it that way. The mods I plan to do are more for maintaining it more then tuning it.

I have never owned one before or any Rx. I have love them since I could start to drive. I tried to purchase and Fd before but due to my size I was unable to fit.

I have read through lots of the posts and am glad they are here. I want to thank everyone for posting them and informing us noobs what we can expect

I am from Alberta Canada
Thank-you

Get a compression test at a Mazda dealer before you buy it.

RX8 Club’s recommended maintenance schedule, more comprehensive and proactive than Mazda’s schedule.
30,000 miles:
- Replace Ignition coils
- Replace Plug wires
- Replace Spark plugs
- Clean MAF (mass air flow sensor)
- Clean ESS (e-shaft sensor)
- Reset ESS profile
- Clean power steering connections
- Clean battery terminals and clamps
- Replace transmission fluid
- Replace coolant (Mazda FL-22 is highly recommended)
- Replace air filter
- Replace brake fluid (fluid in the brake lines AND the clutch line)
~$300 USD in parts if you shop smartly.

every 60,000:
...all 30,000, plus...
- Clean all chassis electrical grounding points
- Replace accessory belts
- Clean OMP lines
- Replace rear differential fluid
- Replace thermostat
- Clean / Straighten AC condenser fins
- Clean / Straighten oil cooler fins
- Inspect catalytic converter
- Clean / Inspect intake valving
- Consider / inspect all points in 90,000+ as well, many items fail early
~$130 USD in parts if you shop smartly.

90,000:
...all 30,000, plus any 60,000 not yet done, plus...
- Replace coolant bottle
- Replace radiator hoses
- Replace radiator
- Replace front O2 sensor
- Replace motor mounts
- Inspect clutch pedal assembly for flex / weld breaks
~$900 USD in parts if you shop smartly.
At 100k, anything original in the cooling system is really suspect and failure prone. It represents the biggest threat to your engine.

Yes I have read all of the new owner info. I have also asked for a compression test. I also plan to decat it and do a full service as soon as I get it home.
It has 47000 km. New brakes, roters, coolant tank and sensor, belt, plugs and a few more things.

I have a reasonable budget to do a full service on it

BTW I had an FD and I am a big guy too, it was a tight fit, it felt like I was wearing the car, but great fun anyways. My 40th anniversary RX8 is way more comfortable for a big guy and with a more compliant and forgiving suspension, very near perfect. Really the most comfortable sports car I have driven, especially on long trips . Early on, Kelly Blue Book named the RX8 one of the 10 Best Road Trip cars.

I hope you are able to get that compression test BEFORE buying any RX8. Best to you, we are all here to help you keep your RX8 together and enjoyable for a long life and endless smiles.

that interior is exclusive to the US model 40th Anniversary Edition. That is the color of the original interior of the original Mazda Cosmos rotary engine car back in 1967.

Yep, the Euro trim 40th got a different interior and spoiler. And they got it in Crystal White Pearl. I wish we got it on the Euro trims.

Wow this is a terrifying car. I have owned a lot of cars but the stability of it at high speeds make you want to go faster. I took it out for a quick test drive. Hit 220 kph felt like I was doing 130.

I am in love
If it was a woman I would be proposing right now.

LOL,

Start slow, it is a very easy car to drive fast, but there are some physical laws out there that will catch you out. Buy yeah, you get it...
