Greetings!

I am a long-time lurker on these forums, currently my partner and I have three RX-8s. An '04 4-Port AT, '04 6-Port MT, and an '05 6-Port MT (Parts Car). The parts car was t-boned by a Volvo and is very much destroyed (we bought it that way), but we're in the process of salvaging everything we can for our other cars.

The AT was our first, it started as a project for a friend, he had wanted one but his very controlling parents wanted no part in it. So we picked up the car, went over just about everything on it, replaced a lot of interior pieces, returned it to a factory radio system but with a GROM device added, etc. He then had the car for almost two years and then sold it. The next owner heavily abused it, then ran off the road in an ice storm and somehow tanked the transmission. Being that we have the parts car, we bought it back, and are currently in the process of doing a MT swap. I look forward to sharing information regarding the swap soon as I believe I solved some of the TCM issues!

What a crazy story for the '04. You should update the forum on your journey with it!
And also welcome to the team 😎😎

I definitely will! The old MT swap write up on the forums is very helpful, but I believe what I've discovered in the wiring diagrams should make the whole process a lot simpler for S1 owners. We're still working on getting everything back together but I should be at a point soon to see if what I've come up with works.

Essentially I believe the TCM can be kept in the car and just moved out of the way of the clutch pedal, which then leads me to tricking it into always thinking it's in neutral. That should keep any limp mode conditions or other fault codes at bay. Plus I simplified the starter circuit and reverse circuit processes.
