Hello all!
New member here, just recently signed up. I have a beautiful 2008 40th Anniversary edition (6 speed), that I will be looking to sell shortly once I get my pictures loaded and get a detailed summary of the car put together.
In the meantime, I just wanted to stop in here and say hello to everyone! :-)

I have been reading a few other threads regarding engine compression readings, but it seems like a compression test should yield a few numbers for each rotor compression reading. Over the course of the last couple of years, I have had the mechanic that I work with take compression numbers, but he usually gives me one number for each rotor (120 front, 105 rear, for example). It seems like there are multiple numbers that I should be obtaining. Perhaps I am not asking for the correct information, or he is not using the appropriate tool to capture these readings? Any potential thoughts on what I am missing?

Yeah, you need a rotary-specific compression tester. You will have to go to a Mazda dealer or a rotary shop.

A proper rotary-specific compression test should give you 3 pressures (one for each rotor face) and an RPM for each rotor. Since the RPM should be the same or very similar for both rotors, sometimes they omit one of the RPM measurements.

Thanks all for the tips. The place I go locally can do most work on my 8, (a couple of the service guys used to own 7s) but I may need to check with my Mazda dealer up the road to get a more thorough reading. Thanks much!
