Hi everyone, I've actually owned my RX-8 since March of this year, but just became a member of this site yesterday.

I don't know any of you personally, but wanted to say thank you to all the countless posts out there and information sharing on this very unique car. It's because of the information sharing and discussion that led me to actually take the step to buy the RX-8. The article titled, New and Potential Owners Start Here - was probably a tipping point for me to make this my next car, so thanks for the info, it''s appreciated. I did a lot of humming and "hah ing" as to whether this car would be a suitable daily driver, given that the rotary engine operates differently and needs to be cared for and driven (for the most part) differently. Being aware of these things is key, and after 4 months it's been working out great. I live in Canada, so it hasn't been thorough a full winter yet, but my winter tires are ready to go for when the snow flies. I did drive it through some snow in March this year, and with the winter tires, it handled quite well considering all the wet snow we get that time of year. Just got a Racing Beat mid pipe installed along with new plugs, coils and wires in June.

Welcome to the forum. As long as you search first and ask second you'll be fine. They're a good bunch with a few stirrers mixed in. Good fun!! Enjoy the toy.

Yes, that seems to happen. When I was investigating how often a person should change plugs, coils and wires, there were a few people that got roasted for posting threads that pretty much already existed. I guess we're all human, but that seems to be a good rule of thumb to go by. Thanks

I will soon hopefully. It's pretty much all stock on the outside. It's a dark grey 2006 GT. It has a spoiler and Ninja NJ01 rims in gun metal grey.

Midpipe

Good to hear from you. I live just outside of Owen Sound and have had my 8 since last October. I do not drive it in the Winter. Too much snow here. Where did you purchase the Mid pipe. I am looking to remove my catalytic and replace it with a good quality pipe. Also looking at premixing my fuel. Just started doing the research on this site.

It's a racing beat mid res pipe, you can purchase them from www.racingbeat.com

One thing to note about the mid pipe is that the check engine light will remain on. This doesn't affect the engine in any negative way. I had it installed in a rotary specialist shop in Calgary. All these guys do every day is work on 7's and 8's mostly. Essentially what they told me was that Mazda has very specific flow pressures that they regulate their factory CATS to. If anything after market is installed that gives a naturally different pressure reading, the check engine light will go on. Some might disagree and that's fine, but this is Mazda's way of cornering the market with their CATS as a check engine light will drive many people crazy, getting them to buy their CATS from Mazda and paying the big bucks. Racing Beat products are all premium parts and will function just as well if not better than what you get from Mazda. A Mazda dealership quote me just under $2500 to replace the CAT in my car, I had the racing beat pipe put in for under $500, parts and labour.

If the check engine light being on is an issue for you, you could look into a High Flow CAT, as the light usually stays off much better with those. They are a bit more money, but not much more.
