CA new to me 2005 RX-8

Howdy Folks,

just financed a titanium gray 6 speed with leather. interior is mint, exterior shiny and like new. 79k miles on it and got it at a BMW dealer who had no idea what they were doing with this beauty on their lot. drove great till earlier today when i was downshifting and heard the clutch pedal pop... damn clutch pedal assembly I reckon! Lucky for me I called mazda customer service, updated the vin with my info as the new owner and made sure I could still get it replaced under warranty. Appointment set for this weekend and will hopefully have it back in time for a nice drive with some friends for memorial day weekend. Yes I will be getting the reinforced bracket for the assembly for insurance and the future. But it is nice to know that the stock one lasted 8 years picks attached for oogling

NC Nice!

Super sexy car man, do you anticipate having a lot of problems with it? I'm picking up a 2004 with 80,000 on saturday. I'm just nervous that this car will have a lot of problems. I don't want something that breaks down every time I drive it, or a car I'm scared to take on long distances. Is this your first Rx8? Have you had good experience with these before? Thanks for any input

IMO, i would recommend not going with an 04. If you can find a 07+, do that. A lot more refinement. I do have an 04 and no problems until recently. I'm at 98k miles and my rear rotor is losing compression. So time for a new engine!

yes I bought it from BMW of Fremont which was good and bad. Priced well enough but they clearly had no idea how to treat the RX8 on the lot at all. yeah I would be down for some meet ups for sure. i live in the Sacramento area but I love to drive and to be able to see what other people have been doing with their RX8's would be cool. I'd want to see your MS6 too, I was deciding between that and the RX8 but this came up first before the MS6 did at a local dealer and I needed a car. Darn all the luck!

Thanks man I appreciate it. You know I was a little worried witht he mileage and how many owners it had, but it turned out that the original owner didnt drive it much and the second owners were a couple. carfax is weird and listed three owners which I guess is tecnically true but anyways. I made sure to look for all of the common issues first, really gave it a good test drive and made sure it was still under the 100k mile/8 year warranty. If it wasn't then i wouldn't have purchased it; I would go with one that is still under the warranty. I also called mazda custoemr service to see if it had anything done like an engine replacement or if any of the TSB's were outstanding for it. And I know it may be silly but I also got a warranty through the dealer for it since the Mazda one will be up in November as added insurance for the next three years. If nothign happens in a year then I will cancel the warranty as that would be the most forseeable timeframe of me driving it the hardest. This is my first RX8 and first rotary, so it's kind of a trial by fire for me but I don't think this will be my last rotary. I've always liked the first gen RX7's!

the only difference I can tell is that the '07 is featured in Gran Turismo 5 and the others are not :D
