OK New guy from oklahoma

Hey just wanted to introduce myself. I just aquired a non running 04 Grand touring sport automatic. I'm trying to decide whether to swap it or or sell it and find an already running one. Might be too much work. I'll do more research on this fantastic forum!!!!

good luck, not running could be as simple as flooded and could use 300 dollars in ignition components to it needs a new motor.

Are your fluids full? I'd pull the spark plugs first and see if they are wet and bad. If so swap those first then look hard at your coils and wires.

What part of OK are you in? I'm from the FT worth area, but work all over OK. I'm just out of Chickasha right now.

04s had a lot of problems and seem to have a lot of engine failures with a auto trans you can expect that possiblity of failure to multiply as you can't hit the higher RPM to help keep the engine cleaner and death by carbon is almost a certainty.

Well I purchased it from a buddy. He's an attorney that will take all sorts of stuff in trade to cover his fees. You guys should see some of the stuff he gets. Anyways I bought this from him because I figured it would be a fun project. Currently it has no engine in it but everything else is there. That's why I can't decide whether to LS swap it or get it back running with a stock engine. The last options is always to part it out but I would prefer to hold off on that because the car is in great shape.

The LS swap sounds like a good thought if you got the cash to see it through.

I've done a little research on the Ls swap but not sure exactly what it's going to cost to get it running 100% correctly.

Anyone know where to source a good reliable shortblock for a decent price? All the ones I have found are low on compression.
