New engine info

I've recently been advised to get a new engine for my 05 8 with 83000 miles I was wondering if theres options on replacing the engine. (rebuild or can I replace with a different type other than going back rotary?)

Oh there's always options. How much time, money, and patience do you have?

Are you still covered under mazda's extended warranty?
If not, then you can do some research on the topic of replacing the engine with a non-RENESIS. Plenty of info...

I'd advise you to seek another mechanic since rotaries don't have cylinders.

You should still be under the factory 8 year, 100.000 mile warranty. Go to the dealer.

Also it was the dealer that performed the compression test and gave me the diagnosis

Hmm, you must have just missed it. Did you take their word for it or did you check yourself? It's from the sold date.

well I don't know much about a compression test but it certainly runs like it needs a engine the way it dies down and won't fire correctly

Read the compression test section of the new owners thread. If

you paid for a compression test the they owe you the full exact results. If you didn't pay for the test then it was either not done or the claimed it under a warranty that they are claiming you don't have.

If the test wasn't actually done then it could easily be something else, like ignition failure. Unless you are made of money, you owe it to yourself to actually find out what the problem is.

Wait, we have 2 guys here. Blessed, are you hijacking the thread from Kareem?
