Hi Everyone. Names Scott from Newcastle, England.

I have today signed up to the forum as I plan on getting my RX back on the road this year.

This is my 2nd 8 (first one being a 192)

My current RX8 is an 04' 231 model.

I have owned this car for 2 years and to be honest the car has sat pretty for the past 8 months or so. Mostly because I have been concentrating on my MX5 and moving home etc.

now I'm happy with my 5 its time to get the Rotary back on the road.

Please see couple photo's of my MX5.

I tend on taking my 8 down the same route. And all bodywork will be done by me. I spent 2 months working on my 5 fitting the kit and body work.

I have a list of things to do for the 8 to ensure its brought back to life.

My 8 is currently on 100,000 miles, and thats UK Miles, not Kilometers. I know she will need a little bit of help to get running smooth. but I'm looking forward to hearing her turn again.

On my list for initial start up is:

£75 New Bosch Battery
£20 engine Oil
£4 Oil filter

After initial test I plan to upgrade the following depending on how well she starts up. I have full confidence she will start fine, even after 100,000 miles she never let me down on either cold or hot starts. A lot of my friends have been amazed at how reliable this 8 has been compared to others.

  • Ignition Upgrade - £400
  • Uprated starter motor £180
  • Racing beat Intake system £350
I plan on doing initial starup in couple weeks once I purchase battery etc.

i'll also snap a few photo's. The car is Silver with no Mods.... yet!

I would say wish me luck but I have faith in hearing that rotar sound soon without much issue

Cheers, Scott.

Started on first steps of resurrecting my 8.

Front Strut Brace and dead battery removed.

Cleaned the entire engine bay. Looks much better now.

Also, how heavy is the Bosch battery! I know car batteries arent light but I was surprised on how heavy the RX8 battery is. My Mx5 battery is half the size!

I will be fitting the new battery once it arrives. I'm going to order the exact same battery, unless anyone can recommend a cheaper/better alternative?

Thanks guys! My MX5 will always be my main project. I still have so much planned for it.

This year I'm focusing on Wheels/Alloys/Suspension.

As for the 8, Can anyone recommend a new/better front strut brace. I really don't like how the OEM one is hollow.
