The "new owners" and "newbies guide to modding the RX8" threads are chuck full of good information.

To that, this is a good read. It's an SAE paper from mazda regarding the RENESIS:
http://www.normalexception.net/docum...RENESIS_HP.pdf

Beyond staying on top of regular maintenance (most notably the ignition system) the following is my opinion as to what to do:
1) SOHN adapter filled with a quality 2 stroke oil
2) Synthetic oil (0W-40 or otherwise) in the engine
3) OBDII reader/or other way to monitor coolant temperature
4) A quality premix at ~0.5 oz/gallon

Beyond that, make sure your catalytic converter is good, as it may have been damaged by the failure of the previous engine.

Congrats on the new car, and happy motoring!

I would agree to a point poach. I would say BHR Ignition Kit, Sohn Adapter and mounting kit. It's actually on sale right now, the whole thing for $200. I dont recommend synthetic oil. i use 5w30. For the 2 stroke i agree a good 2 stroke in the kit and in your gas usual mix is 4-6 ounces per tank.
