New Battery

New Battery

Good morning, I put a new battery in my 04 rx 8 and check engine light is on. Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you

Go to a parts store and get your OBD scanned to see what the code is.

You should expect the power steering and dsc lights to be on after disconnecting the battery and they will clear on the second frive, but the correct procedure is to turn the steering to full lock in each direction to calibrate the steering position sensors.

Check engine light shouldn't be on, but without knowing the code it could be anything, as suggested above get the code read and report back the actual code, not whatever the parts store thinks the problem is.

OK will do. I have a code reader coming today. Check engine light actually came on after I jump started the car

Car idles fine and has no problem going up over 4000rpm
