Need help!

Hey I’m new here and recently bought my 2005 RX8... my engine light came on, when I scanned it the codes ; P0661 and P2259 came up. I did google them and ask my mechanic ( who doesn’t know much about these cars ) and found little info out. Was hoping for more helpful information and what I should do.

thanks!

I'm sure someone will be around with advice, but in the meantime try a Google search of "Rx8club, code #..."

It's the best way for quick results.

It sounds like there is an issue with the ssv solenoid. Under the Upper Intake Manifold and on the backside of the oil filler neck is 3 solenoids with a blue, white, and black connector in descending order. Below is a diagram highlighting this system, in this diagram the blue= blue connector, the red = the white connector, the green = the black connector. All the solenoids are the same and by the codes you posted it sounds like there will be an issue with the red=white system. Lowest cost thing to do would be to swap the blue solenoid for the red one. The blue one is used for the secondary air pump, which is used to aid the cat on startup.(pass emissions)

Be careful and remember that these are plastic and have been sitting ontop of a hot engine for a long time == they will be brittle so try to not bend any part of them. Should only be 10mm to get these out.
