My new toy!!!

So after doing a lot of research I decided I wanted a car to work on that I could get cheap, fix myself and have fun driving it when I was done. Something sporty and bad *** looking and after looking at a lot of options I loved the rx8. Girlfriend loved it too ( happy wife happy whatever) just happened to mention to a buddy I was looking for an rx8 and he knew of one at his buddies shop and all he knew was it needed engine done as it doesn't run. Perfect. Looked at it covered in snow and $800 later I have it towed to my place and dropped right into my garage. Didn't like the way it was sitting so I charged the battery and tried to start it and it started up right away. Drove it out on to the street and turned it around and parked it how I wanted and I have to say I'm jn love. Loved the sound when I revved it up and I absolutely love the brown and black leather interior. Can't wait to dive into this car and figure it all out. I've watched so many videos on engine rebuilds, tricks and tips and pretty much anything to do with rx8s that I feel like I did with my eclipse and crx 20 years ago. Original owner said it may not need rebuilding. I'm going to start with all the main things coils plugs etc and go from there. But I'm pretty jacked up to get started on this.

one tiny rust spot and a scrape on the front bumper but mint other than that.
I can fix pretty much anything. I own a cell phone repair company and if it needs a rebuild I am going to have fun doing it.
Not bad for $800 I'd say.

RX8 Club’s recommended maintenance schedule, more comprehensive and proactive than Mazda’s schedule.
30,000 miles:
- Replace Ignition coils
- Replace Plug wires
- Replace Spark plugs
- Clean MAF (mass air flow sensor)
- Clean ESS (e-shaft sensor)
- Reset ESS profile
- Clean power steering connections
- Clean battery terminals and clamps
- Replace transmission fluid
- Replace coolant (Mazda FL-22 is highly recommended)
- Replace air filter
- Replace brake fluid (fluid in the brake lines AND the clutch line)
~$300 USD in parts if you shop smartly.

every 60,000:
...all 30,000, plus...
- Clean all chassis electrical grounding points
- Replace accessory belts
- Clean OMP lines
- Replace rear differential fluid
- Replace thermostat
- Clean / Straighten AC condenser fins
- Clean / Straighten oil cooler fins
- Inspect catalytic converter
- Clean / Inspect intake valving
- Consider / inspect all points in 90,000+ as well, many items fail early
~$130 USD in parts if you shop smartly.

90,000:
...all 30,000, plus any 60,000 not yet done, plus...
- Replace coolant bottle
- Replace radiator hoses
- Replace radiator
- Replace front O2 sensor
- Replace motor mounts
- Inspect clutch pedal assembly for flex / weld breaks
~$900 USD in parts if you shop smartly.
At 100k, anything original in the cooling system is really suspect and failure prone. It represents the biggest threat to your engine.
