Smile My Mazda RX8

Hey Rx-8 club i'm a new member here but a long time lurker. I recently got my 8 late last year. It's my first car that's going to be on the road. (Bought a 93 civic and my dad wasn't to happy so I got rid of it) I got mine with rear end damage and a lot of rust work needed. I'm from Canada so Mazdas without rust are very rare here. I completely restored it with my dad and rust proofed the body. We also did a 2 tone pantjob on it. I made a youtube video of some of the work we did and how it looked when we were done. You can check that out here:

Please tell me what your opinion on it is I am very curious to see what actual RX8 owners think of it. Thanks!

The repair work looks solid. Nice job. I'm not really a fan of separately colored body panels with hard lines but it's your car. The quality of the work looks great, so if you like it, that's all that really matters.

Car looks great, nice work by you and your dad, congrats. What kind of mechanical shape is the car in ? What are the numbers from your rotary engine compression test? Does if have new coils, wires and plugs? What shape is the cooling system, cat and exhaust system in? These are the first things to get on top of to ensure your car's long and healthy life. You say you are a RX8 club site lurker, have you read the stickies for new owners? Very important ! If you have then great, if not here is a link. Best to you !

Thanks for the feedback guys and yes I have read it. The car has fairly low mileage 133k killometers (around 82k miles. I haven't done a compression test. When the car was damaged the stock muffler was knocked out of place. We welded it back in but I am currently building a custom exhaust system. The cat was changed by previous owner. Plugs I just ordered brand new OEM NGK laser iridium with wires, coils I am going to change 1 time when my plugs get here. Cooling system is good but I'm gonna flush it. My dads a body mechanic so we did all the body work first. But the engine has been running nicely since I got it. The car has maintenance records up to a month before I bought the car. So far the only thing that I need is a new battery. When I finish everything mechanically i'm going to get this rotary specialist I know to inspect it. If the engine breaks then meh I can always drop a 20B in

Nice works, looks really well done. The color combo is a personal opinion is the important thing is that you like it, but yeh, looks like you put lots of effort in it and it came out well

Yea I am going to adjust the paint lines later on. We hadn't really thought about it hard before we did it. I'm going to extend the black where the trunk is to connect with the roof so the color isn't just cut off. I'm also going to put a small lip spoiler to block the paint line on the trunk because I didn't like how the whole thing looked black. We parked it in front of the shop the other day and everyone was stopping to look at it. I just like the way it stands out from all the other 8s in my area without overdoing it.

I would have left the hood and the trunk alone and just do the top part black,

also the bottom of the rear bumper should be black to match the black exhaust shrouds, but that's easy get some rubberized paint or rino liner, will look stock or sand them smooth and paint black.

either way good job

Nah like it like this only debating the trunk may just paint it silver because the cut off lines were off. Its all personal preference and the rear bumper I know is supposed to be black lol. Thats why we painted it silver. I think it looks way cooler now. I want it to look custom not stock. Thanks for the input though.

Update: Ordered new oem suspension as a spring was broken and going to order my exhaust tips soon. Going with a burnt titanium set. Looking into getting my Y pipe made for my custom exhaust setup along with mufflers.
