motor replacement

Hi all, long story short. My brothers 07 with approx 40k miles was running rough and he took it in to our Mazda dealer and they said you have the old motor we will replace it at no cost. Then I called them with my vin # and they told me I had my motor replaced in July of 2011. That was before I owned it. Anyways I thought this might be helpful to others to find out if they are able to get a new motor. They said times running out on older 8s I don't think they will do 04s any more or cars with 100k miles.
This was news to me, I'm new to rx8s. Don't flame me if this is common knowledge

I shall refrain from flaming.

Yes, it is common knowledge.

Also listed in the new owner's thread. (New and Potential Owners START HERE! - RX8Club.com)
Also has a huge thread dedicated to the warranty extension. (https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-discuss...rranty-147287/)
Also mentioned in nearly every thread where someone asked about a low power problem.
etc...

8yrs or 100,000 miles from the in-service date (usually the first sale date) of the car is when the warranty expires. Most 2004s will be out of warranty, many 2005s. If the original in-service date of the car is later than "expected" it can have a perception of extending the warranty. Like my 2005 was first sold in September 2006, so the 8yr mark isn't reached until September 2014 (it's past 100k though, so out of warranty anyway)
