Metra kit no fan and temp control

I bought a metra kit to install with a screen. Installed it, everything works, except the temp and fan speed controls. I can rotate the fan and temp controls but they do not respond. The buttons on the fan and temp control do work. I checked the wiring, everything seems ok.

What to do?

Your car has 182K miles on it you can't expect it to run like a new one...
I would get some auto shop put a mechanical (master) pressure gauge on the engine to see what the "real" pressure is. This will give you some idea as to how bad things are..
Everyone knows that the gauges on the dash are crap.. That's just the way the auto industry is these days..(well actually, most products made today. So we need to get over it.)
If the pressure is really bad then you are in for a long expensive ride..... (if you want to keep the car)
I don't know what your mechanical ability is, (you said this is your first car) but this car is not a good one to break your cherry on. (so to speak)
Don't feel bad, We've all been there..
The technology is not the same as most other cars. Finding someone who knows how to (correctally) rebuild these engines (near you) are few and far between...
This is a great place to help you through the difficult times ahead.
Good luck and keep us in the loop...

BTW: I have no idea what a "metra kit" is.....

Thank you for your reply. I think you replied to another thread of mine about the pressure gauge. I think its fine and will ignore the gauge issue for now.

The metra kit is a kit to replace the head unit of the infotainment system. I want to replace the button and radio with a screen. This can be done with the metra kit and a screen.

The rotating ***** of fan and temp control were absolutely working before i replaced the head unit for the axxess box of the metra kit.

I personally think the i got a defect axxess box.

they're suppose to work with the metra kit, that’s what it’s for. A few racers on here use it to keep those controls working after removing the sound system.

if they were working before but not after then most likely it’s either a bad device or installation issue. It could go out suddenly and it’s just your bad luck, but that’d be quite the coincidence. However, that control panel is known to go bad. So there is a possibility it got tweaked and the internal solder joints separated. Those controls work on a DPDT type switch that just reverses the polarity on the climate control actuators. The electrical signal must not be passing through, as it seems unlikely that both actuators suddenly went bad at the same time.

Otherwise that guy above likes to project a supposed expertise at every opportunity, but as he admits; has no idea what a metra kit even is or what you’re really talking about. He’s just as new around here as you are, so you might consider exercising some judgement on who you might take seriously or not.

I have a post in the racer area that has the service manual info on those actuators and such to explain how the polarity change is supposed to work and give you some context. Let me go find that and post the link. I also have a used Metra kit in a box somewhere that I bought for the sound system removal race car deal that I can send you to try, but I’ll have to find it first. It’s buried in a bunch of other parts boxes waiting to be installed.

if you want to send me a PM with your contact info I’ll try to find the Metra kit and send it to you, assuming you’re not overseas.

Thank you for your reply, yeah the other guys reply was a bit useless.

Being overseas is relative to your location, I live in the Netherlands. I guess thats overseas for you.

I am not entirely sure what to do with the dpdt switch. Since i think it should just with the metra kit alone. You could be right about the board being broken and I think i will at least resolder the connectors.

Does your car have the auto climate control? Some of the Metra kits did not work with auto climate only standard 4 speed fan and adjust temp till it feels good.

Check post from Andreasy on Metra 95-7510HG Kit.
There is information on how to set for auto temp if serial number of box is correct.

Thank you so much. Its working now.
I am an idiot. It was just written in the manual to press the auto button at startup for 10 seconds to switch to auto mode. Guess I need a pair of glasses
