MAF sensor

Alright just a question but could a clogged CAT cause the MAF sensor to go bad, I recently got the car and I had a hunch the CAT was clogged and sure enough it was so I punched out the honeycomb as a temperary mid-pipe until I can buy one. But I have no idea how long the previous owner drove with the clogged CAT. All help is appriciated.

No, but it can kill the motor. What symptoms are you experiencing?

Well after I punched the cat out it idles a little rough, power lose and doesn't wanna push past 4k-4.5k rpm in 4th and 5th. When I downshift from 5th to 4th the rpm's of course hop over 4k and then it's fine. Also backfires and crackles when you deaccelerate from higher rpm's but that comes from the cat being gutted.

Read the sticky threads a the top of the New Members forum. If the cat is bad, it could have been killed by bad ignition coils. Common issue.

Do you have any check engine codes?
