Lumpy Steering problem
Hi guys
this is my first post and i know its probably in the wrong place but didnt know where else to put it!
having an intermittent problem with the power steering on my 04 rx8
when turning the wheel it feels as if no power steering for 1/4 turn then turns easy as if power steering active for next 1/8 turn then back to feeling as if no power steering
No warning indcators on dash saying anything has failed but been driving the car fine for last 12 months with no issues at all
Is this likely to be the connectors under the air box issue? They look pretty clean and no signs of any coolant overflows anywhere
Any help would be appreciated as dont want to waste time chasing a problem that someone else can point me staright to !
Also, if anyone can direct this post to the appropriate place would be much appreciated
Thanks

This IS the right place to put the thread, since you are a new member.
That's the wrong title though, so I'm changing it. The rules state that titles must be informative of what is in the thread, we shouldn't have to open the thread to see what the topic is. Please rerefresh your memory of the rules by re-reading them here: https://www.rx8club.com/faq.php?faq=...q_user_conduct
Your problem could be dirty connectors, however that sounds exactly like the issue I had when my lower steering shaft u-joint failed. See my DIY thread here for how to re-lubricate it: https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-do-...easing-215141/
However, keep in mind that it probably won't solve the problem for more than a little bit, as a failed bearing is a failed bearing. You will likely need to replace it: https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-do-...cement-217115/

even my plates are tinted
Am having the same issue - turning is: easy, hard, easy, hard, etc. I'll have to look at your DIY next; I should have read this 1 day earlier while i had everything torn apart putting on new springs.
Could this have been from some nasty pothole-type issue? I seem to have busted my both front springs, endlinks, and this steering issue - roughly in the same time frame...but I dont recall hitting anything THAT severe
