So i just got a 2004 rx8 and I realized it has very little torque and lacks some power I don't know if this is normal or if there's a bigger issue someone help me out?!

 

Lack of torque is normal.
It is a 1.3L engine after all.
The power issue is subjective. Auto trans are less powerful than sticks. I assume by your questions that you didn't get a rotary specific compression test.
That is the best way to find out if your engine is healthy or dying.

- Consider / inspect all points in 90,000+ as well, many items fail early

90,000:

- Replace coolant bottle
- Replace radiator hoses
- Replace radiator
- Replace front O2 sensor
- Replace motor mounts
- Inspect clutch pedal assembly for flex / weld breaks
~$900 USD in parts if you shop smartly.
At 100k, anything original in the cooling system is really suspect and failure prone. It represents the biggest threat to your engine.

Honestly, keep a close eye on your gas gauge. You will experience a "power loss" below half a tank.

 

The comment about gas tank level may sound strange but true.

After tracking the car with 1/4 tank gas left I noticed that the engine would not go above 4,000 RPM, like an early rev limiter

I filled the tank and the problem went away
