Thumbs down Lock Car Leave/Return Windows are Down???

Hello again!

Several times now since getting my car I have locked it using the button on the door handle and it did the customary one beep and locked (I assumed). So I go do whatever it is and when I return, the windows are down and the car is unlocked. What is going on? This happened to my dd last night and we found the windows down this morning during light rain!

I already have new batteries in both remotes.

There may be another related issue. A couple of times the car didn't want to let me turn the ignition as if the remote wasn't in the car, but it was. I tapped the remote gently and then it worked fine. Could these problems be related?

Thanks in advance for any help.

(yes, I did search, but found a bunch of unrelated posts about using the remote to roll the windows up and down)

Again, today I went out and clicked the unlock button on the remote and the windows rolled down.

Does someone steal your car during the day, then leave the windows down?

Have you had any aftermarket alarms or remote starts added? I know some systems if you hold certain buttons, unlock or lock, they will automatically scroll the windows up or down for convenience.

Also make sure you're just not pressing the unlock key or holding it. Not accusing you but it happens to the best of us. It could cause them to go down.

Do you have any other Rx8 neighbors by any chance?

DVerdeyen,

I have not had any mods. Last time it happened I simply pressed the unlock once and it rolled down the windows. Sometimes, we just press the lock on the remote and similar happens.

Could they just need to be reprogrammed?

Thanks!

Yes that's what I was leading up to, a lot of the Viper systems just need to be reprogrammed. Apparently same with yours. Should only take 5 minutes, should be somewhere here on the forums on how to do it
