Angry Limping... Again.

Hey guys,

8 is limping again. I've searched around on the forum a bit before posting as you should. I've pulled the OMP/MOP whatever connectors, dried them out, dielectric grease, ECU resets, etc. It worked for 3 start ups about 30km or so then limped again. Ran the OBD2 and got the same codes as the guy who pulled the connectors, etc and he and multiple others said it permanently fixed it and got rid of the CEL. I've got a Lincoln memorial as well but don't think that'd affect it. Haven't switched in the new bottle yet but I've got one in the garage. Any suggestions?

Sorry if there are errors, typing on a laggy phone.

I think he's saying he has a bad OMP. Only Lincoln memorial I know about is in DC and I have no idea what he means by a bottle.... failed sohn adapter install possibly?

2004 GT 6-speed manual with a new 6-port. Don't have the codes right now though. Sorry. I'm going to try to reconfigure the position sensor today.

The Lincoln Memorial is a nickname for this light:

This isn't my picture.

UMMMMM, that is the light for the coolant level sensor and it is a common failure point and has nothing to do with limp mode and won't affect the way the car is running unless your coolant is actually just low and it is doing it's job of letting you know that. What problems are you having exactly?

I stated above that I don't believe it's related in any way. Was just trying to give as much info as possible. Something is definitely wrong with the MOP, I just have no idea what.

How do you know it is related to the OMP?

Well I guess I don't know for sure but all the information and stuff I've read points towards the OMP. It's just my best guess, what else could it be? This is my first 8 and I've tried to educate myself about it as much as possible but I have little experience with the 8 and rotaries in general.

There are several limp modes, the limp mode for the OMP is just one of them. You will need to actually clarify what is going on with the car other than just "it's in a limp mode".

You still haven't said a single thing about what symptoms you are having or even what the car is doing
